Copenhagen, October 13 2006 - ENKAM Pharmaceuticals A/S, the Copenhagen-based biotechnology company focused on cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, is pleased to announce that it will present at Neuroscience[1]. Professor Vladimir Berezin, will present the poster: “The dyofin and dekafin peptide families: structural and functional mimetics of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs)” on Sunday 15 October at 16:00.
ENKAM will also give a presentation at the BIO InvestorForum 2006 on 19 October 2006 at 14:00 (PST). The BIO InvestorForum will be held at The Palace Hotel, San Francisco, US from 17 to 19 October.
The Dyofins and Dekafins represent a novel group of compounds from ENKAM and are a promising new class of tyrosin kinase modulaters with exciting potential within neurodegeneration and cancer. Dyofins and Dekafins are derived from two different structural binding sites of the various fibroblast growth factors (FGFs). There are eighteen different classes of Dyofins and twenty three different classes of Dekafins. ENKAM has selected fourteen classes in total. Five classes enhance memory after subcutaneous administration in normal animals. Compounds are tested in different neurodegenerative models (e.g. Huntington’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury) and other, Dekafins, have the potential to treat cancers.
Commenting on this announcement, Morten Albrechtsen MD, Chief Executive and a founder of ENKAM Pharmaceuticals, said: “These new classes represent another breakthrough for Enkam and we are very excited about the potential for these compounds. “
