The PMTP™ has primarily been applied to novel and known targets within two therapeutic areas: CNS disorders and oncology.
Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) have been recognised as significant targets for a wide range of therapeutic applications. Intergrilin® is an example of a drug treating anti-coagulation disorder. Historically, the general motivation for using CAM-related targets has been mechanical disruption of adhesion.
The work of the scientific founders of ENKAM has taken the understanding of CAM-related targets far beyond disruption of adhesion. Cell adhesion molecules play important roles in the regulation of growth, differentiation and survival of cells. NCAM in particular has been demonstrated to have numerous functions in the nervous system, including a central role in cognition.
